5 Simple Habits for Healthy Skin

Hello! Hope you are all doing well and staying home if possible!

When it comes to having clear skin it can be a challenge. But what else can you do besides wearing sunscreen or drinking lemon water every day to have healthy skin? Read on for my simple habits for healthy skin.

1. Exfoliate

This is the most important habit for healthy skin. What exfoliating does is it scrubs off the dead skin and reveals bright skin.

If you don’t exfoliate regularly, this can cause breakouts and blackheads. Due to the dead, dry skin being stuck in your pores, your skin could become dull.

How often should I exfoliate?

You should exfoliate once to twice a week. Be careful to not exfoliate frequently as this will cause irritation and inflamed skin.

2. Mask once a week

A face mask is perfect to rejuvenate skin. There are many types of face masks. Clay masks are great to clear skin and tighten the pores. You could also use a sheet mask if you need extra hydration for dryness.

My favorites:

DIY brightening mask

  • 2 tbsp of ripe banana
  • 1 tbsp of honey

Mash together in a bowl and apply to skin. Wait for 10-15 mins and rinse.

3. Sleep routine

You should aim for between 7-9 hours of sleep. A consistent sleep schedule will help reduce dark circles as well. This is because your skin cells are hard at work to repair damaged skin cells while you sleep.

4. Wash your face twice a day

This is another important habit for healthy skin. Wash your face in the morning and also before you sleep. That way you can clean your skin of the tiny dirt, sweat, and bacteria that has accumulated from the day.

You don’t need a fancy face wash. Just a splash of warm water will be enough! Sometimes, when I use face wash consistently, it causes my skin to breakout. So, if you have noticed this as well, try plain water to wash your face.

5. Do not touch your face!

I know it can be tough to not touch your face! I do it all the time without thinking because that is what I have become used to for years. Also known as a habit.

The main reason for this is to not spread germs/bacteria from your hands to your face. Acne forms from these bacteria.

Use Clean Skincare/Beauty products

*BONUS HABIT*

A big step for great skin year round is to use natural/clean skincare and beauty products.

What is “clean beauty”

Clean beauty has become more and more popular as consumers have started questioning what ingredients are in their products. A majority of products have harmful ingredients and toxic chemicals.

This article on the Harper’s Baazar is really eye opening as it explains the harmful effects of chemicals such as parabens, fragrances, formaldehyde and more.

I hope that these habits are something you consider incorporating into your daily skin care routine! I’d love to hear what you think about clean beauty or your habits for healthy skin!

Thank you for reading and until next time don’t forget to stay Chic Neat and Sweet!
