Are you tired of dealing with hang nails, rough/uneven nails or think that you have to wear nail polish? Well, no more girl! I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to! Together, we can work our way up to beautiful nails! Read on to learn how to care for your nails the natural way!
What you need:
- nail polish remover
- nail clippers
- cuticle tool
- buffing block
- nail filer
- clear nail polish (Or color if you can’t live without painting your nails!)
- moisturizing hand lotion
- cuticle oil (optional)
Step 1: Remove previous nail polish and wash your hands.
We first need to clear the “affected area” if you will.
Step 2: Prep nails
Soften the cuticles by wetting your hands in warm water for 5-10 minutes. Dry and then gently push back your cuticles with the tool. If you don’t have the tool, you can also use your other finger. Be Gentle, it shouldn’t hurt when you push it back!! At this point, you can massage in some cuticle oil.
Step 3: Time to cut!
Take your nail cutter and carefully clip your nails. Cut depending on preference. I like to cut straight across and kind of soften the edges to have a rounded straight nail. Don’t go too crazy! As a rule of thumb, cut less than what you think you need to. Later, we will file and shape it out perfectly.
Step 4: File away!
Now it’s time to get to business. File in one direction only. DO NOT file back and forth! This causes the nail to be frayed and uneven!! Also, remember to file in short strokes without too much pressure.
Step 5: Buff!
After we have shaped with our filer, we need to buff and smoothen the tiny vertical lines/ridges. Take a buffer and first use the coarse side. Next, is the medium coarse side. Lastly, go over all the nails with the softest side to finish it off! This makes your polish go on super smooth!
Step 6: Extra Shine!
I love putting on clear polish on because it makes look like Pinterest nails, lol! But, if you want to go the minimalist route, that’s cool too! Oh, and don’t forget to put on some hand lotion!
All done! I hope this was helpful to all my lazy girls out there who still want to look put together!
